I finally found a safe granola bar! Cascadian Farm Organic Chocolate Chip Granola Bars are free of peanuts, tree nuts, egg and soy (it does contain soy lecithin). When I contacted the company, they stated, however, that, “Ingredients may vary from one package to another due to product reformulation. If you have allergy concerns, please read each package ingredient panel.” So, basically, ingredients can change from package to package. Always read the ingredients listing! It has been difficult finding dried fruit and veggie snacks that are not contaminated with peanuts or tree nuts. I just came across this company--Just Tomatoes, etc!—that has dedicated lines for each fruit or vegetable, and their products are great! Some lines available at Whole Foods, otherwise, shop online.
If ever you’re in need of a safe peanut butter alternative, try Sunbutter. It’s made of pure roasted sunflower seeds and tastes a LOT like peanut butter—in case you've got discerning non-allergic children to please! Available at Whole Foods.
Gaga’s SherBetter Frozen Dessert. A healthy option to those with allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, egg, gluten and soy. Available in Lemon, Raspberry, Orange, Chocolate. Note: A reader contacted Gaga’s to ask if their production lines were nut-free. Gaga responded that their SherBetter is “made at a facility which is not nut-free or peanut-free, but that they take great care with the machines, products, etc. to reduce risks of cross-contamination.” Available at Whole Foods.

It is a Unilever Ice Cream/Good Humor-Breyers policy that when any of the eight most common allergens (milk, eggs, fish, wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, soybeans and crustaceans) occur in any of our products (including Klondike and Popsicle brand products), they will be listed on the ingredient label in plain language. Unilever Ice Cream/Good Humor-Breyers does not have dedicated production lines in our factories for product containing allergens. However, we do have a very strict allergen-handling policy.
